The HSE is setting up a local forum for those suffering with their mental health, their families, carers and supporters in Kilkenny and Carlow.
It is being set up as a resource for people to voice their experiences, raise issues and be consulted and involved in mental health service developments in their area.
The first information meeting on the new forum took place in Carlow last night in St. Dympna’s in Carlow while tonight there’s a meeting at 6 o clock in Harry’s Bar in Langton’s in Kilkenny.
The forums are being set up following on from recommendations in the national mental health strategy.
The nine Community Healthcare Organisations throughout the state have appointed an Area Lead for Mental Health Engagement, with Paul Fallon the person serving the South East.
With a focus on mental health and services for those who need it, the HSE says it was important to set up an outlet for people to have their say on what’s happening.
