“Carlow Tidy Towns is at the crossroads of its existence”
Those are the words of the Chairperson of the Tidy Towns committee in Carlow Town who says they simply cannot seem to recruit volunteers to help them.
Carlow got a Silver Medal in the Large Town category of this year’s awards, which were announced yesterday, and also managed to increase their marks.
However, Ken Tucker told KCLR News unless they get more help from locals, they’re just going to have to pack it all in.
Meanwhile, in Kilkenny those involved with Keep Kilkenny Beautiful are celebrating their gains in this year’s Tidy Towns competition.
While the city was just pipped to the post by Birdhill in Tipperary, by just two points, Kilkenny did increase their points.
Chairman Peter Bluett says it was a great result.
