The cost of delays of the Kilkenny Central Access Scheme due to protests and court cases has been put at over 2 million euro.
Kilkenny County Council originally signed a contract with the building contractor for 4.1 million however that contract doesn’t stand anymore as the time frame had to be extended due to missing the deadline on the fisheries regulations.
The council and contractor are now involved in a disputes resolution process to come to an agreement on the cost of finishing the project.
The cost to the council for attending two high court hearings and one in the Supreme Court is around 100 thousand euro.
