The electronic scoreboard tells the tale at the final of the All Ireland Senior ‘A’ Post Primary Schools Camogie which was played on the March 8th, at Parnell’s GAA grounds in Dublin.
The game began with Pres aided by a strong breeze and they slowly built up a lead of 1-5 to 0-0, the goal being scored by Aisling Nolan. St. Marys began to come more into the game as the half progressed and with points just before half time left the score Pres 1-7, St. Marys 0-3.
The feeling at the break seemed to be that Pres would need all of this lead when they faced the wind in the 2nd half. This seemed to be confirmed when Magherafelt scored three points without reply in the early stages of the new half. Pres settled, however, and managed to stop the Magherafelt onslaught. About mid-way through the half Mary O’Connell got a point from a free and this was followed by a great goal from Aoife Farrell. This left the score at 2-8 to 0-6 and try as they might after this Magherafelt could not catch the Pres girls. The final whistle sounded to great relief and celebrations among players and supporters.
