250 years of Green’s bridge in Kilkenny is being celebrated today.
The current bridge was completed in 1766, after Kilkenny was hit by one of the worst floods on record in 1963.
It wiped away almost every bridge in the county at the time, including Green’s Bridge and John’s Bridge.
Celebrations are being held this afternoon, with an Art Exhibition, Community picnic and music among the plans.
The official opening took place on John’s Quay at 12:45pm, with celebrations continuing until 6pm.
