Education Minister says he doesn’t see why the merger of IT Carlow & WIT shouldn’t run smoothly

Richard Bruton says he doesn’t think either IT Carlow or Waterford IT will give him any reason to have to step in and “bang heads together”.

The Education Minister was speaking in relation to the issue of establishing a technological university for the south east – legislation for which is to be passed before the year is out.

He was in Kilkenny yesterday to address delegates as the Education and Training Board’s two-day conference was finishing up.

Minister Bruton told KCLR News they still hope to be enrolling students for the region’s university next September.
