2 day Dáil debate on sale of Aer Lingus gets underway later

The Minister for Transport says he expects all government TDs to vote in favour of the sale of Aer Lingus.

A two-day Dáil debate gets underway later, after the Cabinet last night agreed to sell the State’s 25 per cent shareholding.

IAG has offered 335 million euro for the stake – and has made new guarantees about the Heathrow landing slots and the future of routes from Irish airports.

50 jobs will be lost as part of the deal – but IAG has promised that over 600 new positions will be created by 2020.
