A major development in the heart of Kilkenny City has been refused planning permission by An Coimisiún Pleanála.
Kilkenny County Council gave the green light to Penny Pudding Limited in June to develop a multi-storey 67 bed hotel on the corner of Pennyfeather Lane and Pudding Lane.
This was subsequently appealed to An Coimisiún Pleanála by local residents and businesses against the council’s ruling.
The Commission ruled that the proposed development by reason of its overall size, scale and mass and its close proximity to nearby homes, would significantly harm the residential amenities of adjoining properties.
