Ballyragget water treatment plant temporarily shut down

The water treatment plant in Ballyragget has been shut down due to water quality issues after recent flooding.

Around 1,500 Irish Water customers will be affected by the outtage as water levels in the storage reservoir are being depleted.

A tanker is being deployed to the Glenvale car park to provide an alternative water supply and will remain in place until the supply is restored to all customers.

This water must be boiled before use and you must bring your own water containers to collect water from the tanker.

Kilkenny County Council says it may take a number of days for the water quality to improve before production can recommence at the plant.
