Christmas has come early for Kilkenny Library Service.
As part of the county council’s budget for 2026, an extra €395,000 has been granted to the crew which operates eight branches, including the jewel in its crown, the Mayfair in the heart of the city.
And while some is to help staff the new expanded Thomastown offering which opens early next year, a significant portion is being put aside to buy new stock as Head Librarian Josephine Coyne has been outlining to KCLR News’ Martin Quilty;
