Calls are being made for a former suspension bridge over the River Nore close to Kilkenny city centre to be restored

Kilkenny County Council’s being called upon to restore a former suspension bridge close to the city.

The structure at Bishops Meadows which was built by Lady Desart to take workers from Talbots Inch Village across the river to Greenvale Mills was washed away in the great flood of 1947.

Recent Local Election candidate Liam Heffernan has set up a petition (see that here) and has been telling KCLR News that the first step needs to be the removal of the remnants of what used to be in place;
