Calls for further increases to grants that help parents get children Back to School ready

There’s a call for an increase in the school book grants and a further hike to the back to school allowance to help parents tackle the rising costs of back to school.

Local TD Kathleen Funchion was speaking after figures released yesterday show that it costs over a thousand euro per child to get them ready for September.

Speaking to KCLR news she says there was an increase in the allowances announced recently but more is needed.

She also says schools need to think about how they can help parents.
