Many locals are this morning remembering the late Marianne Faithfull.
The singer died in London yesterday aged 78 and has this morning been described by Mick Jagger as a “wonderful friend and a beautiful singer and great actress” following her death.
Known for the hit As Tears Go By which was written by the Rolling Stones’ frontman and Keith Richards, Marianne visited our locality on a number of occasions with stop offs at Kilkenny Castle for a Butler Society Dinner, Kyteler’s Inn during the city’s Beerfest and also Nowlan Park for one of Bob Dylan’s while at least one Carlow talent wrote a song with her.
