Carlow community still in shock as Garda investigations into serious assault continue

A Carlow Councillor says the serious assault of a local woman at the weekend has “sent shockwaves through the community”.

The woman in her 50’s was discovered unconscious in Pollerton Castle on Sunday afternoon, where Gardaí believe she’d been lying for up to 9 hours.

She’s still in a serious condition in hospital.

Gardaí are continuing their investigation and are still appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that might help them determine what happened to the woman.

Carlow Town councillor Walter Lacey told KCLR news that four days on local people are still coming to terms with the horrific attack.

He says its not something people would expect to happen saying the area where she was attacked would be considered very quiet.
