Carlow Deputy says Department of Justice needs rebuilding and rebranding

Carlow Deputy Pat Deering says he still believes Frances Fitzgerald will be vindicated once the Tribunal reports next year.

The Tanaiste resigned yesterday but her replacement is still to be found.

Meanwhile criticism of the Department of Justice is growing after it emerged evidence, showing it was aware of a legal strategy to discredit Maurice McCabe, was not given to the Tribunal investigating the alleged smear campaign.

Deputy Pat Deering says a re-branding and the rebuilding of the Department of Justice is what’s needed now.

The move by the Tanaiste means a Christmas vote was averted at least though many believe a General election will be held in 2018 anyway.

Deputy Deering doesn’t think that’s necessarily the case.
