Carlow Kilkenny farmers to be hit hard by Russian ban
Farmers in Carlow Kilkenny will be badly hit if there’s a Russian ban on Irish products.
Russia’s expected to announce a blanket ban on all food and drink imports from the EU later today, in response to sanctions over Russia’s actions in the Ukraine.
The ban could put nearly €250 million of Irish exports in jeopardy.
Denis Drennen from Maddoxtown is with the Kilkenny ICMSA and IFA’s National Dairy Committee – he says local dairy farmers could be hit hard but will just have to find other markets for their produce.
