TDs from Carlow and Kilkenny are among those heading back to Leinster House this morning in a bid to elect the Taoiseach following yesterday’s Dáil debacle.
Opposition parties are set to meet with the coalition party leaders at Government Buildings before hand to try to resolve the issues which led to explosive scenes there yesterday, delaying the election of Micheál Martin to the country’s top political role and the subsequent reveal of his Cabinet crew.
The Opposition hit out at the Ceann Comhairle for allowing a portion of their speaking time to a group of Independents including Tipperary North / North West Kilkenny representative Michael Lowry.
The Regional Group have four junior ministries in the new Government, and the remaining three plus Danny Healy Rae were trying to take their place in the opposition benches.
The house was suspended until 9 o’clock this morning but already that’s been pushed back to 10:30am.
