Newly elected TD for Carlow/Kilkenny, Peter ‘Chap’ Cleere, marked a significant milestone in his political career yesterday by chairing the proceedings of Dáil Éireann for the first time.
The Kilkenny native was invited by Ceann Comhairle, Verona Murphy, to join the Panel of Temporary Chairpersons, an offer he was pleased to accept.

Speaking to KCLR News, Deputy Cleere shared that the session went smoothly, with fellow deputies being understanding and easing him into the role on his debut.
The experience was a proud moment for Cleere and a highlight of his early days in office.
