Carlow Town park playground closed after vandalism

The childrens playground at Carlow town park has had to close due to vandalism.

It’s understood the area has been destroyed by graffiti and has been cordoned off to allow for repair work.

It wont re-open for a few days.

It’s raised the CCTV issue again though – security cameras to be installed there have been approved in recent weeks but there’s still no date for when it might happen.

Senator Jennifer Murnane O’ Connor says as far as she understands the project is gone out to tender now.

But she says this latest incident proves it needs to happen as soon as possible.
