Carlow town railway station is a priority location for Irish Rail to increase car parking spaces.
Deputy Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has called on KCLR News for more to be done to up the number of spots where commuters can park.
In a statement today, Iarnróid Éireann says potential lands are predominantly within their ownership and they’ve liaised with the National Transport Authority and Carlow County Council on options.
They expect to undertake preliminary design works this year, with a view towards submitting a planning application.
And, while subject to the design process, it is envisaged there’s the capacity to approximately treble the number of spaces, which are currently at 145.
