Any changes to school admission policies won’t affect majority of schools says local principal

A local INTO representative and school principal says the proposed changes to schools admission policies probably won’t effect very many schools.

Yesterday Education Minister Richard Bruton launched a public consultation to reform the admissions system for primary schools.

Among the options are that schools can only give preference to a certain number of baptised children – or that the religious element is removed altogether from admissions criteria.

Speaking to KCLR News, Joe McKeown, Principal of St Pat’s de la Salle School in Kilkenny, says in reality that particular issue doesn’t effect many schools.
