Cold temperatures cause delay in reopening of Vicar Street

The cold temperatures are causing a delay to the reopening of Vicar Street in Kilkenny.

Central Access Scheme works have been ongoing there for the past fortnight, meaning it’s been completely closed to traffic, causing huge delays.

The street was originally due to be reopened by last Friday but that was then postponed to today.

However, Kilkenny County Council say that due to the cold temperatures they’re unable to lay tarmac or concrete today.

They don’t know yet when it will be warm enough to do this work but they’ve told KCLR that they’re still hopeful of being open by the start of next week.
