Carlow face local rivals Wicklow tomorrow night in the O’Byrne Shield Final at SETU Carlow, with throw-in set for 7.30pm.
The decider will be live on KCLR, with coverage brought to you by Dan Morrissey and Co.
Carlow booked their place in the final with a semi-final victory over Laois in Rathvilly, a game captained by Conor Doyle, who says the squad has benefited from a demanding pre-season schedule.
Speaking on the KCLR Sport Podcast, Doyle said the run of games has given management a valuable opportunity to assess the panel ahead of the National League.
“We are after playing three games in a week and the management team is after getting a good look at everyone. I would rather play matches than training. It’s a good build-up to the first round of the league,” he said.
Doyle also praised the direction of the setup under the current management team, stressing the importance of collective buy-in.
“We have a good management team and once everyone buys in to what they want us to do, hopefully we will have a good season ahead.”
Tomorrow night’s final offers Carlow a chance to claim early silverware as preparations continue for the league campaign.
