Doctors gather for annual conference as government publishes legislation for free GP care for children under-6
Members of the Irish Medical Organisation will gather for their annual conference today, amid further controversy over plans for children’s care.
The government published legislation to provide free GP care for the under 6’s yesterday.
It was slammed by the IMO as an attempt to replace the General Medical Services contract with a new one which would ‘destroy the very fabric’ of Ireland’s GP service.
The proposals are set to be high on the agenda at the conference which runs until Saturday, along with issues like salary cuts for new consultants.
