Rivers inspire poets and pleasure, they accommodate life, create business and provide a sporting outlet. Though the River Barrow is on our doorstep many people in Carlow and Kilkenny are ignorant of its rich history, geography, flora and fauna. Follow Me Up the Barrow tells the stories and experiences of the river by people that know it best… the fishermen, the old boatmen, the lock-keepers, rowers, canoeists and river ‘guardians’. Through the accounts of their experiences a unique, informative and historical picture of the Barrow is compiled through this radio series.
