Rocks and Some Rolls

Limestone, found in so many parts of Ireland made a defining mark on Kilkenny’s buildings, art and people and on historical buildings and monuments around the world.

Rocks and Some Rolls is a radio series that showcases the history of the marble industry in Kilkenny, investigates the quarrying of limestone, the buildings that made from it, the artists that use it and the Dunmore Cave that results from it.

Altogether the programmes demonstrate how the natural environment influences the culture, history and heritage of the place and other places beyond it.

Produced by Monica Hayes and made with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland with the television license fee
