Farmers and agri contractors appear to be the latest targets for thieves.
The Irish Farmers Journal‘s today reporting that within ten days at least 16 in five counties, including Kilkenny and Wexford, were hit for GPS gear to the tune of a quarter of a million euro.
The spate began in Cork on the 2nd of February before moving onto Wexford, Dublin and Meath where €100,000 of technology was stolen from seven farms in a 10km radius.
After that our locality was struck – Garda Robert Rasmussen has been telling KCLR News; “The burglary that occurred between the 9th of February this year and the 12th of February, this occurred at Delaney Agri Services in Kilmanagh in Kilkenny, three GPS receiver pods were stolen from three John Deere tractors, also three digital scales were stolen from inside the three cabs and two more screens stolen from inside the harvester”.
He adds “The total value of the property taken was €60,000, Gardaí in Kilkenny are looking for assistance from members of the public if they saw anyone suspicious in the area at these times or any vehicles acting suspicious to contact them on 056 777 5000 please”.
