20 people arrested and over €40,000 worth of cocaine seized in Kilkenny City

20 people have been arrested in Kilkenny so far today for drugs related offences.

It’s part of a major operation that’s been ongoing for the past 10 months with the assistance of the Drug and Organised Crime Bureau.

The people arrested today are being held in Kilkenny, Carlow and Thomastown Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Cocaine with a street-value of over €40,000 has been seized in Kilkenny City.

In a joint surveillance operation between the local drugs unit and the organised crime unit, two men were arrested shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday evening and an initial stash of cocaine worth an estimated €17,500 was seized.

Following searches of two houses, a further €23,000 worth was found.

One man in his 20s and another in his 30s are being held in Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.
