Emergency services are dealing with a fatal crash in County Carlow.
It’s happened on the N80 at Leagh, Rathoe at the bad bends, close to the Fighting Cocks at 1:15am – in the same area which claimed the lives of three people on the same date last year.
This latest single car incident has left two men aged in their twenties, the driver and a passenger, pronounced dead at the scene.
While two other passengers, a man and woman also aged in their twenties, have been taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny with injuries that have been described as serious but non life threatening.
The N80 at Leagh is closed and is expected to remain so for a number of hours while a technical examination is carried out on the stretch.
Gardaí are calling on anybody who may have witnessed the crash or who has any information or footage to come forward.
It’s understood the vehicle involved was travelling from Mount Leinster to Carlow town via Fenagh.
