An update’s been issued on a planned ESB outage in parts of County Carlow tomorrow.
Pockets of Myshall, Fenagh, Garryhill and Milltown were set to see electricity off while maintenance works took place.
However, some of that area is under significant snowfall – one listener has been telling The KCLR Daily that to have no electricity would have serious consequences;
However, in a statement from the ESB at lunchtime, it appears they’ve had a change of plan – it says:
“ESB Networks carry out planned outages throughout the year for a number of different reasons including for essential public safety and the reliability of electricity supply, and other essential works such as to facilitate new connections.
“This planned essential work scheduled to take place tomorrow has been postponed and will be rescheduled in due course. Customers who have registered a mobile number with their suppliers will receive correspondence to notify them of this change. Separately, customers will be contacted with a date for the rescheduled outage.”
Deputy Jennifer Murnane O’Connor too has been informed by the utility that “The outage will not happen tomorrow because of the circumstances, a lot of people are still snowed in, you know we’ve had your listeners this morning speaking about elderly people there that need their heating so everyone in that area will get a text to say in the next hour that the outages will not happen tomorrow and they’ll be back to them with a later date”.
