A new Cathaoirleach’s been elected to chair Kilkenny County Council over the next 12 months.
Fine Gael Councillor Fidelis Doherty takes over from Fianna Fail’s Andrew McGuinness, who’s now Mayor of Kilkenny City.
Cllr Doherty was proposed by party colleague Michael Doyle and seconded by Pat Dunphy.
Fianna Fail’s Michael McCarthy will be Leas-Cathaoirleach.
The new Cathaoirleach says she proud to represent South Kilkenny in the new role and to be the fifth woman to take the job.
