Linda Em came to visit at the end of her most recent Irish tour and played live for us first on the KCLR Live show and dropped in to Studio 2. She has Kilkenny connections, is very proud of her Irish roots and you don’t have to dig very far to see the influence of Irish themes and songs in her own work. She’s also heavily influenced by the Woodstock era of songwriters and you’ll hear shades of Leonard Cohen in the vocal backings in the songs we hear. That said, she wears the influences lightly and is her own person artistically; vocally, she can be both intimate and expensive in her live performances, ably backed by a great team of musicians and singers.
