There is no shortage of superlatives when it comes to August Wells. Blessed with a deep, rich baritone Ken Griffin’s voice arrests and caresses and, allied to fine arrangements and playing by his musical partner John Rauchenberger, their songs speak to deep topics of love and loss and demand your attention subtly.
Freed of the treadmill of record company cycles (and Ken has had his share), August Wells make room for their songs and make every effort to make the performance central so their music has an immediacy that is noticeable.
They dropped in to Studio 2 to play and even their approach to this shows their unique take to performance. This attention to detail draws you in to focus on the lyrics and the beauty of their musical palette.
They play at Cleere’s Theatre tonight. You can find out more and details of their latest tour here
