A former restaurant in County Carlow which has been home to more than a hundred people fleeing the war in Ukraine is now under consideration for its next offering.
The Toughers site in January saw those who were beneficiaries of temporary protection seek alternative living arrangements on conclusion of the contract with the owner.
The Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth has confirmed to KCLR News that on the 28th of January all who had requested follow-on state contracted accommodation were relocated.
The spokesperson also says they have received an offer of international protection accommodation in relation to this property.
A spokesperson in a statement adds; “We are carrying out an appraisal of the offer and no decision has been made in relation to this property”.
Should that plan get the go-ahead, there’s no indication as of yet as to how many people would be accommodated there.
