Kilkenny Gardaí are looking for a man who impersonated a member of the force and stole money from a pensioner at the weekend.
Shortly before 6.30 on Saturday evening in Ballygriffin, Kilmacow, a woman in her 70s answered the door to a man who said he was a Garda.
He wanted to know where she kept her money, and when he was shown, he then made off with it.
Sergeant Peter McConnon says this man wasn’t in a Garda uniform but he can still be charged with impersonating a member of an Garda Síochána.
He says people should never be afraid to ask for official identification.
