The Garda Ombudsman is reportedly investigating all of the circumstances which led to the death of the young man central to last year’s shooting at a Shopping Centre in Carlow town.
22-year-old Evan Fitzgerald died in the June, 2025 incident having turned the gun on himself after opening fire at the Fairgreen.
At the time he and two friends were facing charges of gun possession following a Garda sting operation.
The Irish Examiner says Fiosrú has already examined two peripheral aspects to the case, neither of which was controversial, but is now set for a more complete investigation seemingly on foot of a complaint.
