Local Gardaí assisted by the Garda Water Unit have been carrying out searches of the River Nore in Kilkenny City today for a man who went missing more than a year ago.
46-year-old Latvian native, Valerijs Zimecs was last seen at the Talbot Court estate on the Freshford Road on November 1st 2015.

He had been living in Carlow and had attended the emergency department at St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny that morning.
However, he left after two hours.
According to Gardaí, today’s search was being conducted not because of any fresh information, but rather in the hopes that something might turn up.
