Gardai working on identifying body found in River Nore

Gardai are now working on identifying the body of a man taken from the River Nore in Kilkenny this morning.

The search for a man who entered the water near Greensbridge on Tuesday evening was stood down shortly after 11.15 this morning when a body was found by divers searching a stretch of the Nore in Kilkenny city.

The mans body was recovered between the new pedestrian bridge and Johns Bridge by the sub aqua team who resumed their search early this morning.

Passers-by saw the man go into the River near the old Swimming pool at around 7.15 on Tuesday evening

His identity remains a mystery although KCLR news understands Gardai are working on a specific line of inquiry as part of their efforts to identify him.
