The Holy Angels group in Carlow won’t be able to apply to run the new overnight respite services for Carlow and Kilkenny.
That’s according to local councillor Arthur McDonald who says they’re not registered with HIQA therefore disqualifying them from putting in a tender to run it.
Carlow has been without overnight respite for a year after Tír na nóg closed its doors and the HSE are now looking for tenders for the service which is understood to be going to Bagenalstown.
The closing date is Friday the 13th of January.
Councillor McDonald who is on the HSE regional health forum says Holy Angels should still have time to register but the HSE doesn’t make it easy for people.
