The HSE is to work with the family of a seriously ill local man who has threatened to go on hunger strike if St Lukes’ Hospital don’t allow him to go home.
Gerry McDermott suffers from locked in syndrome and is a patient in the Intensive care unit of the hospital since January 27th.
His brain is fully functional and he has expressed his desire to go home.
In a statement to KCLR the HSE says its very much aware of the situation and has confirmed it will continue discussion with those involved towards a satisfactory resolution.
