Hundreds expected to turn out for annual Castlecomer Wellie Race

Over 600 people are expected to take part in one of the biggest events on the calendar in Castlecomer today.
The 37th annual Wellie Race takes place from 3 o’clock this afternoon.
Hundreds of locals will get their wellies on, in the hopes of walking or running off the excess food from the festive period.
There’s musical entertainment, a parade of floats and walkers, and food to keep locals entertained.
Mark Rothwell is secretary of the organising committee, he told KCLR news that there’s lots planned for the day ahead.
Meanwhile, Kilkenny Senior Camogie Manager, Ann Downey is today’s Personality of the Day.
She told KCLR this morning that this tops off a fantastic year for her, and her connections to Castlecomer go back a long way.
