A local councillor has welcomed the granting of a provisional green light for the extension of a County Carlow nursing home.
Under the proposed development 40 new beds will be added to Borris Lodge resulting in a total of 85 ensuite rooms.
The works would also involve partial demolition of an extension to the premises and a number of outbuildings.
Speaking to KCLR News, Cllr. Daniel Pender voiced his support for the move, noting; “It’s very welcome news, in the context of an aging population and more complex health needs facilities like this are incredibly important to support the needs of south Carlow and people living in Kilkenny to access Borris Lodge to provide these services so an additional 40 beds being approved to be built is incredibly welcome news and good to see it, hopefully construction won’t take that long”.
