Ireland have learned their opponents for the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia, with Scott Robertson’s side set to face Scotland, Uruguay and Portugal in Pool D.
It marks the third consecutive tournament in which Ireland and Scotland have been paired together at the pool stage. Ireland topped the group in both 2019 and 2023, and will again enter as favourites, but Scotland’s recent progress ensures another high-stakes Six Nations rematch awaits.
Uruguay and Portugal complete the pool. Uruguay have continued to develop since strong showings in 2019 and 2023, while Portugal earned widespread praise for their performances in France last year, including a win over Fiji. Both nations are likely to provide competitive tests as Ireland build toward the knockout stages.
Elsewhere, hosts Australia have been drawn with New Zealand in Pool A, setting up a major southern hemisphere clash. Defending champions South Africa headline Pool B alongside Italy, Georgia and Romania.
