Ireland now know the road they must travel to reach the World Cup after today’s play-off draw was made in Switzerland.
The Republic of Ireland will face the Czech Republic away from home next March in their semi-final.
Should Ireland progress, they will meet the winner of Denmark versus North Macedonia in the play-off final.
Elsewhere in the draw, several intriguing matchups were confirmed across the remaining paths:
Path A
Northern Ireland will travel to face Italy in their semi-final. The winners of that game will take on whoever comes through Wales vs Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Path B
Ukraine have been paired with Sweden, while Poland will host Albania.
Path C
Turkey will take on Romania, and Slovakia will meet Kosovo.
