Irish Rail is reporting extremely high booking levels for this weekend.
Most services on routes between Dublin and Galway, Westport and Belfast are sold out as well as trains from Galway to Limerick.
Public transport is still operating at 50% capacity due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Advice for anybody hoping to travel by rail from one of the four stations locally, in Thomastown, Kilkenny City, Bagenalstown and Carlow Town, is to book as soon as possible for any journey they wish to take.
