IT Carlow student wins place in final of International Science competition

An IT Carlow student is one step closer to winning a highly prestigious international science competition.

Richard Lally is a postgraduate student at the local IT’s enviroCORE research hub.

He beat hundreds of others to become regional winner for Europe/Africa in the graduate category of Alltech’s Young Scientist Competition.

He’ll now receive 2,000 U.S. dollars in prize money and an all-expenses paid trip to Kentucky in May where he’ll compete in the final stage.

The overall winner will win a once-in-a-lifetime postdoctoral position with global biotechnology company, Alltech along with 10,000 dollars.
