“It’s worrying” – that’s the reaction of a parent at one of the Carlow schools which was in receipt of what’s been described as a ‘threatening email’ this morning.
As we reported on our earlier morning News bulletins Gardaí are investigating after ‘a number’ of schools contacted them.
Some opted to close their doors for the day, others have remained open.
A garda spokesperson’s told KCLR News “An Garda Síochána is aware of a communication that has been sent to a number of educational establishments in Co. Carlow today, Wednesday 27th May 2026. Gardaí are currently assessing the contents and credibility of that communication. Senior Garda leadership have opened communication with the affected educational establishments. No further information is available at this time.”
Fine Gael Councillor Fergal Browne is Principal at St Joseph’s National School which was among recipients and says the correspondence made claims of a potential shooting and a parent from another school outlined details on The KCLR Daily;
