Kilkenny City and County Draft Development Plan amended to limit size of local wind farms
Councillors unanimously supported the changes at a meeting yesterday

Kilkenny councillors have voted to amend the city and county’s Draft Development Plan to limit the size of wind farms allowed locally.
They unanimously supported the changes at a special meeting yesterday which had been adjourned from last week after a record number of submissions were made by the public.
When formally adopted, the new plan will restrict the size of renewable energy projects.
Fianna Fáil’s Eamon Aylward on last evening’s The Way It Is said it means the planned Castlebanny windfarm could only have a maximum of five turbines, not the 21 contained in the original proposals.
And the Linguan Valley was removed entirely as a potential wind farm site.
