Kilkenny could see its new Watersports Hub take shape next year.
Fáilte Ireland has allocated funds to a number of local authorities across the country to develop such activities with €1.2million of the expected €1.8million cost for the city based offering already earmarked.
After a number of public consultations Kilkenny County Council has applied to An Bord Pleanála for planning permission for its proposed facility on the grounds of County Hall into the adjoining River Nore.
A decision is expected by summer or early autumn this year after which they’ll go to tender for the final design then onto contract in 2026.
Director of Services Tim Butler says though a costly development, it’ll be worth it;
