Kilkenny Council and Emergency services dealing with a major oil spill in Kilkenny

Motorists are being urged to exercise extreme caution following a major oil spill stretching from Kilkenny City to the M9 southbound at Knocktopher.

The spill extends from Dominic Street through the Waterford Road Roundabout and Danesfort, with conditions reported to be particularly hazardous on the motorway.

Gardaí and the fire service are at the scene, and motorists are being warned to expect delays as the clean-up operation continues.
